The two boxes below show the html code for the same page. The first box shows the code as it was originally coded. This is very non-standard code and as you can see is very long, and messy. Just glancing over it you can see how difficult it would be to edit this code.

The second box shows the same page. (Yes I promise the two pages are nearly identical in look and content, see photos below) You can immediately see how much less code there is, and that is a very good thing. What you might not realize is that all the information that tells the browser what the page should look like is safely separated in its own file. The result is you are looking at only the informational content of the page, with semantic tags that tell us what that content is.

The end result is multi fold, but to any business owner the MONEY savings alone should be enough to convince you that Web Standards are our friend.
